Positive Education

The Positive Education Project is designed provide positive education solutions. These solutions include the delivery of keynotes seminars, staff development and training days, consultations and whole school approaches.

Core elements of The Positive Education Project are:

  • Introduction to positive psychology and positive education
  • Cultivating emotional, social and academic learning
  • Identifying and marshaling signature character strengths
  • Facilitating engagement, meaning and purpose

  • Mindfulness in the classroom and common room

Positive Parenting

Purpose:
The Positive Parenting Project provides parents and care givers with the opportunity to experience positive education principles, concepts and skills.

In doing so parents and carers can significantly increase the health, wellbeing and resilience levels of their children.

In this engaging and entertaining keynote, participants will learn about the following objectives:

  • Introduction to positive psychology principles and positive education
  • Introduction and application of mindfulness
  • Identify character strength
  • Support emotional and social learning
  • Role model positive health and wellbeing
  • Nurture a growth mindset with optimistic and flexible thinking styles

Additional benefits:

  • Creating a shared dialogue between parent and child

  • Promoting inclusivity, belonging and connectedness
  • Strengthening parenting networks

The Positive Parenting Project collaborates with educational and clinical psychologists and Allied Health professionals to create a bespoke presentation or program to suit the specific needs of your school.

An example of this is James’ recent collaboration with Ms Jaye Blofwitch and Dr John Irvine of The Read Clinic. The trio developed and delivered a keynote seminar on effective parenting, mindfulness, cyber safety and digital citizenship.

The Art of Play

‘The Art of Play’ program provides students and staff with the opportunity to experience positive education concepts, principles and skills.

‘The Art of Play’ is a fusion of positive education and play-based learning experiences. The definition of ‘play’ is explored and applied by students in the context of possessing the ability and skill to balance the various demands and challenges encountered in life.

Students will participate in a variety of creative performance-based activities, circle time discussions, personal and group reflections, guided mediations and attempt physical and cognitive skill acquisition challenges.

Students will learn to:

  • Learn to cultivate positive emotions and relationships
  • Identify signature character strength in self and others
  • Develop optimistic, flexible and growth mindsets ad thinking styles
  • Create positive health habits and proactive self care principles
  • Improve concentration and focus by identifying requirements to experience states of ‘flow’
  • Learn and apply practical mindfulness exercises and techniques
  • Apply positive goal setting

A ‘Play Book’ accompanies this program and guides self-directed learning throughout the day and can be kept for personal, tutor and family reflection.

MMM (Modern Masculinity and Mindfulness)

Purpose:
‘MMM’ is a positive educational program designed and delivered to improve a student’s capacity to thrive and flourish.

‘MMM’ takes an enjoyable, empowering and proactive perspective to explore the traditional and modern day meanings of masculinity.

A ‘MMM’ tool kit is unpacked and students are enabled to improve their understanding of masculinity, identity, resilience, positive health and optimal functioning life a male.

Students will learn to:

  • Learn traditional and modern ideals of masculinity
  • Develop an appreciation of the transition period from boyhood to manhood
  • Learn how to cultivate emotional awareness and appropriate emotional expression
  • Identify signature character strength in self and others
  • Create positive health habits and proactive self care principles
  • Develop the capacity for becoming responsible community and digital citizens
  • Develop optimistic, flexible and growth mindsets and thinking styles
  • Learn and apply practical mindfulness exercises and techniques

A ‘Balance Book’ accompanies this program and guides self-directed learning throughout the day and can be kept for personal, tutor and family reflection.

SMS (Stress Management Strategies)

Purpose:
SMS provides students with the opportunity to learn and apply stress management tips, tools and techniques.

We all experience stress and it can be described as feeling under pressure, overwhelmed or being worried.

Stress can also be useful in motivating us to complete a task or improve our performance.

However, stress can cause distress and have negative impacts on our health wellbeing and performance. It is important to enable students to identify this and broaden their coping skills and capacity to manage stress.

Participants will learn to:

  • Understand the different types of stress
  • Identify warning signs and triggers of stress
  • Develop awareness of self talk patterns
  • Practice relaxation and mindfulness strategies
  • Develop flourishing health habits to manage stress
